Nagpur: Mankapur police have registered a case against a 24-year-old youth for allegedly stealing 30 sacks of wheat and rice worth ₹47,160 from the parking area of a grain trader’s residence in Ganpati Nagar, Nagpur.

According to the complaint filed by Shrikant Babaraoji Runge (29), a grain trader who operates Mauli Traders, he had stored his stock in the parking area of his house near Hanuman Temple in Ganpati Nagar, under Mankapur police station limits.

The thefts allegedly took place on different dates. The complainant noticed the shortage after checking his stock and found that 15 sacks of wheat, each weighing 30 kg and valued at ₹15,660, and 15 sacks of rice, each weighing 30 kg and valued at ₹31,500, were missing. The total value of the stolen grain was ₹47,160.

The complainant subsequently checked CCTV footage from the relevant days. The footage allegedly showed Sahil Ramesh Lande (24) entering the parking area after scaling its wall and stealing the grain sacks.

Based on the complaint, Mankapur police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused had not been arrested when the case was registered.
