Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police have registered a case against a man for allegedly establishing a physical relationship with a 31-year-old woman on the promise of marriage and later avoiding her requests to marry.

The accused has been identified as Akshay Manoj Adakne, a resident of Mankapur, Nagpur.

According to the complaint, the woman had married in 2016 but divorced her husband in 2024 due to marital differences. Since then, she had been living with her parents.

Police said the woman and the accused became acquainted through Facebook. The accused allegedly promised to marry her and took her to a location where he established a physical relationship with her.

The woman later became pregnant and informed the accused about the pregnancy. She also asked him to marry her, but he allegedly continued giving evasive responses and avoided committing to the marriage.

Based on her complaint, Hudkeshwar police registered a case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are investigating the allegations and further action is underway.
