Nagpur: A worker allegedly stole around two tonnes of iron scrap worth ₹72,000 from his employer’s scrap shop in the MIDC area and sold it to another person without permission, police said.
The incident was reported under the MIDC Police Station jurisdiction. According to the complaint, the complainant, Diliprao Dhakne, alias Sonu (35), a resident of Rajiv Nagar in Hingna, runs a scrap business near YCC College. As he needed workers at his shop, he had employed the accused Yogesh.
On September 6, the complainant had loaded approximately two tonnes of iron scrap, valued at around ₹72,000, into his Mahindra Bolero pickup (MH-40-CT-5425).
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly took the scrap-loaded vehicle without informing or obtaining permission from the complainant. He reportedly sold the scrap to Suraj and later abandoned the pickup near Wardha Petrol Pump before fleeing.
Based on the complaint, MIDC police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation to trace the accused and recover the stolen scrap.
