Nagpur: Lakadganj police have registered a case against a 35-year-old man for allegedly stealing two heavy iron sewer chamber covers belonging to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
The complaint was filed by Nilesh Suresh Gajbhiye (37), an NMC health inspector and resident of Sirspeth, Nagpur.
According to the complaint, the theft occurred near Chandras Bar, Mother Dairy and the Lakadganj metro station, in the area of Telephone Exchange Square and a nearby petrol pump. The two iron sewer chamber covers, weighing around 60 kg each, were valued at approximately ₹10,000.
After the theft came to light, the complainant checked available CCTV footage. During the verification, police reportedly learned that Shyam Rajput (35), a resident of the area near the water tank in Lakadganj, was allegedly involved in stealing the iron covers.
Based on the complaint, Lakadganj police registered a case under Sections 303(2) and 324(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
