Nagpur: A 15-year-old girl, a Class 11 student, allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Taj Nagar under the Ajni police station limits in Nagpur.

The deceased was residing with her mother in Taj Nagar.

According to police, the victim was studying in Class 11 and was staying at the residence mentioned in the police report. Her mother, 41, has been living separately from her husband due to marital differences.

Police said the victim allegedly took the extreme step for an unknown reason. She reportedly used a dupatta to hang herself from the ceiling fan at the house.

After the incident came to light, she was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical Hospital), Nagpur, for treatment. However, doctors examined her and declared her dead.

Based on the statement of her mother, Ajni Police registered an accidental death case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), corresponding to Section 174 of the CrPC.

Police are conducting further inquiry to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
