Nagpur: Sadar Police have registered a case against two men for allegedly demanding ₹10 lakh in extortion from a 45-year-old man and threatening to kill him if he failed to pay the money.
According to police, the complainant, Noor Mohammad Kalim Akhtar Ansari (45), was acquainted with the two accused, identified as Nasim Akhtar Mohammad Hanif (62) and Mohammad Aslam Hafiz Abdul Aziz (60). The three had reportedly been involved in the tour and travel business.
Police said a dispute had developed between the complainant and the accused after Ansari filed a cheque-bounce case (SCC 587/2018) against them before a court. The dispute allegedly continued over the case.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly abused Ansari using obscene language and pressured him to withdraw all the cases he had filed in court. They allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh, threatening to kill him if he failed to pay the amount.
The complaint was registered following directions from the court. Sadar Police registered an FIR under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to extortion, criminal intimidation, intentional insult and common intention.
The case was registered on August 8, 2026, following the court’s order. Police said the investigation is underway and further action against the accused will follow based on the evidence collected.
