Nagpur: A 40-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Surendragad under the Gittikhadan police station area after telling his mother that he did not want to live, police said. His mother reportedly counselled him, but could not avert the tragedy.
The deceased was identified as Satish Ramesh Yadav, 40, a resident of Surendragad, near Kiran Medical Stores in Nagpur. According to police, Satish was addicted to alcohol.
As per the statement given by his mother, Usha Ramesh Yadav, 63, Satish returned home after consuming alcohol on the day of the incident. After having dinner, he allegedly told his mother that he did not want to live.
The mother reportedly tried to counsel and reassure him. Satish then went into the bedroom. After some time, he allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan using a dupatta, police said.
The family members discovered him and the matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Based on the mother’s statement, Gittikhadan Police registered an accidental death report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police are conducting further inquiry to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death and the reason behind his extreme step.
