Nagpur: In a major action against illegal fuel storage, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Crime Branch seized 395 litres of diesel worth ₹35,550 stored unlawfully in the Wathoda area on Wednesday night. The operation was carried out between 8:40 pm and 9:45 pm on October 15 based on a tip-off received by the patrolling team.
Acting swiftly on the information, the police raided the premises of Sachin Santosh Benibagade (27), a resident of Aradhana Nagar, Plot No. 17, Bidgaon, Nagpur, where they found 12 plastic cans filled with flammable diesel stored without a license or permit. The entire stock was seized, and Benibagade was taken into custody.
Following the seizure, a case was registered against the accused at Wathoda Police Station under Section 287 of the BNS read with Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act. The accused and seized material have been handed over to the local police for further investigation.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, led by PI Rahul Shire and his team from the Social Security Branch.
