Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police carried out a massive crackdown on traffic violations, liquor prohibition breaches, gambling, and drug-related offences during Independence Day operations on August 15, 2025.

According to official data, the Traffic Branch of Nagpur Police penalized 469 vehicle drivers for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. A total of ₹6,02,950 was collected as compromise fees (challans) during the special drive.

Meanwhile, under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, city police registered 25 cases and booked an equal number of offenders. Additionally, five cases under the NDPS Act were recorded, bringing the total to 30 offenders, with seized material worth ₹1,32,177.

In another action under the Maharashtra Gambling Prohibition Act, the police booked 53 persons in seven cases, seizing items valued at ₹2,17,382.

Police said that these operations were conducted simultaneously across all station jurisdictions under the supervision of senior officials. Authorities have assured that such drives will continue.

Nagpur City Police have also appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic rules and keep valid documents while driving to avoid penalties.
