Nagpur: The Anti-Chain Snatching Squad of Crime Branch arrested a mobile theft accused and recovered a stolen handset worth ₹10,000.
Complainant Shashank Sunil Joshi (26), a resident of Jayant Nagar, Kalamna, works at the Railway Parcel Department. On August 2, after completing his duty, he parked his car between Chitnis Park Square and Badkas Square in Kotwali limits to rest. Between 4.15 am and 7.15 am, an unidentified thief stole an Apple iPhone and a Realme phone, together valued at around ₹33,000, from his car’s dashboard.
Based on his complaint, Kotwali Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of BNS against an unidentified accused. During a parallel probe, Crime Branch officers zeroed in on Kailas Vyankati Gunjekar (27), resident of Bhandara district, who later confessed to the theft. A stolen mobile phone was recovered from him.
The accused has been handed over to Kotwali Police for further investigation.
