Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Crime Branch, led by PI Rahul Shire, conducted a raid on Thursday evening and booked six persons for gambling in New Kamptee area. Acting on a tip-off, police raided Plot No. 97, Alamnagar, under New Kamptee Police Station limits between 5.15 pm and 6.30 pm.

During the raid, the accused — identified as Rupchand Meshram (52), Kamlesh Phulsunge (31), Pravin Wadibhasme (30), Munnalal Kharole (63), Rohit Thote (28), and Dharmendra Savarkar (36), all residents of Kamptee — were caught red-handed betting money on playing cards.

Police seized ₹12,010 in cash, six mobile phones, three vehicles, playing cards and other materials, collectively worth ₹2.05 lakh. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prohibition Act at New Kamptee Police Station.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal, along with senior officers of the detection unit. Further investigation is underway.
