Nagpur: In a major action against drug peddling, Nandanvan Police arrested a 19-year-old youth with MD powder worth ₹42,000 late Thursday night.
Police said they received specific information about a person selling drugs near a paan kiosk opposite New Indian Furniture Works at Shrikrishna Nagar Square. Acting swiftly, a team laid a trap and apprehended the suspect, who was later identified as Sarfaraz Salim Sheikh, a resident of Pune, currently staying in Sheshnagar, Nagpur.
A search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses led to the recovery of 4.21 grams of MD powder in a ziplock pouch, along with a mobile phone. The total seizure was valued at ₹52,000.
Police said the accused was in possession of the contraband for illegal sale and financial gain. He has been booked under Sections 8(C), 22(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act. Nandanvan Police have taken him into custody and further investigation is on.
