Nagpur: In a shocking incident of violence, a 47-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked by four assailants in the Ambazari area of Nagpur on Sunday morning. The Ambazari Police have arrested all four accused in connection with the attempt to murder.
According to police, the victim, Sachin Mukunda Manerao, a resident of Sudam Nagari, was riding pillion on a friend’s moped around 11:00 am near a government hospital in the area. The accused, allegedly driven by an old dispute, intercepted him and launched a brutal assault.
The prime accused, Gajanan Babulal Battarwar (50), allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, aiming for his throat with the intent to kill. However, the victim managed to evade the fatal blow, sustaining a grazing injury to his neck.
As the victim lost balance and fell from the vehicle, the other accused joined the assault. Bhupendra Hanumant Battalwar (23) reportedly attacked his eye with a knife, while Pawan Rajesh Battulwar (32) struck him with an iron pipe on his shoulder and chest. Another accused, Raju Ram Kumbhare (32), assaulted him with fists.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Ambazari Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Arms Act, and Maharashtra Police Act. Considering the gravity of the crime, police swiftly tracked down and arrested all the accused.
Further investigation is underway.
