Man Apprehended at Nagpur Airport with Two Live Cartridges in Luggage

Nagpur: A man was apprehended at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur after security personnel discovered two live cartridges in his belongings during early morning baggage screening on May 6, 2025.


Pawan Kumar Upadhyay (37), a CISF officer stationed at the airport, detected the ammunition while scanning a passenger’s luggage bound for Mumbai via Indigo Flight 6E 5002. Upon inspection, one cartridge was found in a shaving kit and another in the green pants packed in the same bag.


The accused was identified as Irfan Khan Sardar Khan (40), resident of Motha Tajbagh, near Buland Gate, Sakkardara, Nagpur. During interrogation, Irfan failed to produce any firearm license or documentation for possessing live ammunition.


Police suspect the cartridges were being carried for unlawful purposes. Based on the complaint filed by CISF officer Upadhyay, PSI Chorpagar of Sonegaon Police registered a case under Section 5/25 of the Arms Act and took Irfan into custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
