Nagpur: A case has been registered against an unidentified car driver for causing the death of a 29-year-old pedestrian in a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred near Atul Lawn on Umred Road in Wathoda on April 29, 2025.
According to police, the deceased, Suraj Sukhdas Jangde, a resident of Vinoba Nagar near Hanuman Mandir, Hudkeshwar, was walking home between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm when he was struck by a speeding and recklessly driven car. The driver fled the scene after the collision.
Jangde sustained severe injuries from the impact and was immediately taken to Government Medical College & Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment around midnight on May 2.
Initially, a case of accidental death was registered. However, based on the complaint filed by the victim’s sister, Laxmi Sukhdas Jangde (26), Wathoda Police upgraded the case.
Assistant Police Inspector Vande registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, against the unidentified driver. Investigation is currently underway to trace the accused.
