Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police have registered a case against a 57-year-old man for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 30-year-old woman at an OYO hotel in Dighori after luring her with the promise of introducing her to a prospective solar customer.

The accused has been identified as Chandan Mohandas Wanjari (57), a resident of Nagpur. Police said he has no previous criminal record.

According to the woman’s complaint, she had worked for a solar company in 2024, during which she became acquainted with Wanjari while working on solar sheet installation projects. She later started her own business, and Wanjari allegedly referred two solar customers to her.

Police said Wanjari contacted the woman on August 6, claiming that he had another customer interested in installing a solar system. He allegedly asked her to meet him near the Tukdoji statue in Nagpur.

When she reached the spot, Wanjari allegedly arrived in a four-wheeler and asked her to accompany him. During the journey, he allegedly gave her a drink resembling Coca-Cola, after which she became partially unconscious.

According to the complaint, Wanjari then allegedly took her to Pritesh OYO Hotel in Dighori, where he sexually assaulted her against her will while she was in an incapacitated state. He allegedly later dropped her back near the Tukdoji statue.

The woman subsequently approached the police and lodged a complaint. Based on her statement, Hudkeshwar police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are investigating the allegations and examining the circumstances surrounding the woman’s visit to the hotel, the vehicle used by the accused and other available evidence.
