Nagpur: Pratap Nagar police have registered a cheating case against an 80-year-old woman for allegedly duping a 57-year-old man and his business partner of ₹98.40 lakh in connection with a proposed sale of agricultural land in Nagpur.

The accused has been identified as Indubai Pandurang Talmale (80), a resident of New Sneh Nagar, Wardha Road, Nagpur.

According to the complaint filed by Kailash Gulabchand Agrawal (57), he and his partner, Ramdev Prahladrao Agrawal (60), had entered into an agreement with Talmale to purchase her agricultural land at Mouza Bharatwada, Nagpur district. The land, measuring around 4.45 hectares, was allegedly agreed to be sold for ₹22.01 crore.

As part of the deal, the complainant and his partner allegedly transferred ₹98.40 lakh through RTGS to the accused’s ICICI Bank account.

However, according to the complaint, a civil dispute concerning the land was pending at the time of the agreement. After the dispute was resolved, the accused allegedly sold the same agricultural property to Naresh Jagdish Agrawal (44), a resident of Nandanvan Colony, instead of completing the transaction with the complainant.

The complainant alleged that the accused sold the property to the third party without providing him proper information or complying with the terms of their agreement.

Police said that after the civil dispute was settled, the accused allegedly transferred only ₹34.65 lakh back into the complainant’s bank account out of the amount paid under the agreement.

The complainant alleged that by entering into an agreement to sell the land, accepting a substantial amount and subsequently selling the property to another person, the accused cheated him and caused him financial loss.

Based on the complaint, Pratap Nagar police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to cheating and related offences. Police are investigating the land transaction, bank transfers, agreement documents and subsequent sale of the property.
