Woman Alleges Husband Tried to Burn Her Alive After Threatening to Kill Her in Pardi

Nagpur: A 24-year-old woman has alleged that her husband attempted to burn her alive after threatening to kill her, following repeated domestic disputes and accusations of an extramarital affair. The incident took place in the Pardi police station area of Nagpur on Thursday, August 27.


According to the police complaint, the woman, a homemaker residing near Bhavani Temple Road, had been living at her parental home due to alleged harassment by her husband.


Police said the accused, resident of Om Nagar, in Kalamna, allegedly does not have regular employment and is addicted to alcohol. The woman claimed that he frequently assaulted her.


On the night of August 26, the accused allegedly visited her parental home around 11.30 pm and threatened her, saying that she should return home and that he suspected her of having an affair. He allegedly threatened to kill her before leaving.


The following morning, between 7 am and 7.10 am on August 27, the accused allegedly returned to the area on a motorcycle. He reportedly abused and threatened the woman before removing petrol from his motorcycle and pouring it into a bottle.


According to the complaint, the accused then allegedly told her, “I will burn you alive right now,”grabbed her by the hair and poured petrol over her body. He allegedly attempted to ignite a matchstick to set her on fire.


However, local residents intervened and prevented the accused from carrying out the alleged act.


The woman was subsequently taken to Mayo Hospital for treatment. Based on her statement and medical report, Pardi police registered a case under provisions including attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.


A previous case was registered against him at Yashodhara Nagar police station in 2020 under Section 324 of the IPC.
