Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), in coordination with the Traffic Police, carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in the Dhantoli area on August 27 to clear road obstructions and improve traffic movement.

The joint action was conducted under the guidance of the NMC Commissioner, Nagpur Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic). Officials from the NMC’s Dharampeth and Laxminagar zones participated in the drive.

During the operation, civic and police officials targeted encroachments and other obstructions occupying roads and public spaces in Dhantoli. Roads around clinics and hospitals were also cleared to facilitate smoother movement of vehicles and emergency services.

A large quantity of material found obstructing public roads was seized during the operation.

The NMC has appealed to residents, business owners, shopkeepers and establishment operators not to encroach upon roads or public spaces in front of or around their premises.

Civic officials warned that if encroachments are found on traffic routes in the future, the material will be seized and the obstruction will be removed. Legal action, including registration of cases under applicable provisions, may also be initiated against violators.

The civic body said the anti-encroachment campaign will continue regularly to keep roads and public spaces in Dhantoli free from illegal obstructions.

Assistant Commissioners of the Dharampeth and Laxminagar zones have urged citizens and business establishments to cooperate with the NMC in maintaining clear and obstruction-free roads across the area.
