Nagpur; A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his elder brother following a family dispute at Minimata Nagar in Nagpur’s Kalamna area.
The incident occurred between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on August 26 at Plot No. 223, Panch Zopda, Minimata Nagar, Galli No. 16.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, 50-year-old Kumari Bai Chintaram Bante, she lived with her husband and two sons, Mohan, 21, and Sameer, 19.
Police said Mohan allegedly did not have regular employment and was addicted to alcohol. He reportedly frequently quarrelled with his parents and younger brother, abused them and threatened to assault them.
On the evening of August 26, Mohan allegedly returned home after consuming alcohol and started abusing his family members. He reportedly demanded money from his mother to purchase alcohol. When she refused, he allegedly damaged food items and household belongings and threatened to attack his younger brother Sameer with a knife.
During the ensuing dispute, Sameer allegedly attacked Mohan with a knife, seriously injuring him.
Relatives rushed Mohan to Mayo Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. However, doctors examined him at around 1.15 am on August 27 and declared him dead.
Kalamna Police had initially registered a case against Sameer under relevant provisions of the BNS and Maharashtra Police Act. Following Mohan’s death, Section 103(1) of the BNS was added to the case.
Kalamna Police arrested Sameer in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway.
