Truck Driver Booked for Causing Fatal Accident in Wadi; Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Speeding Vehicle

Nagpur: A truck driver has been booked by the Wadi Police for causing the death of a pedestrian after driving recklessly on the service road near Vinayak Medical, Athva Mile, on Thursday afternoon.


According to reports, the deceased Vikas Suresh Telmare (28), a resident of Ward No. 4, Takshashila, near Buddha Vihar, Athva Mile, Wadi, was crossing the road around 3:45 pm to 3:55 pm on October 10, 2025, when a 10-wheeler truck (registration number MH 40 Y 9541) hit him.


The truck, driven by Gunilal Kolusav Chairiwar (55), a resident of Sonba Nagar, Wadi, was reportedly speeding and being driven rashly and negligently, resulting in severe injuries to the victim. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.


Following a complaint by the victim’s brother Rahul Suresh Telmare (30), an offence was registered under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, against the truck driver.


The case was registered by PSI Jaybhaye at Wadi Police Station, and further investigation is in progress to ascertain additional details regarding the incident.
