Notorious House Breaker Arrested by Crime Branch Units 3 & 4; Two Burglary Cases Solved in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, the joint team of Crime Branch Units 3 and 4 of Nagpur Police arrested a house-breaking accused and cracked two burglary cases registered under Wathoda police station limits.


According to police, the incident occurred between 11 am and 11 pm on September 27, 2025, when complainant Pankaj Rameshrao Mohale (40), a resident of Plot No. 31, Ramkrishna Nagar, Dighori, had locked his house and gone to Chandrapur for work. Taking advantage of his absence, an unidentified burglar entered his house by climbing through the gallery from an under-construction adjacent building, broke open the bedroom door, and stole gold ornaments worth ₹1,57,500 from the cupboard locker.


Based on a complaint, Wathoda Police had registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During a parallel investigation, officers from Crime Branch Units 3 and 4 used technical surveillance and intelligence inputs to trace and apprehend the accused, identified as Amol Chandrashekhar Chafekar (25), a resident of Mochipura, Thakkargram, Pachpaoli.


During interrogation, Amol confessed to committing the said burglary and also admitted to involvement in two other house-breaking incidents under the same police station limits. Police seized cash ₹2,500, gold and silver ornaments, a mobile phone, wristwatch, and a moped used in the crime, all valued at ₹1,90,500.


The accused has been handed over to Wathoda Police for further investigation. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Addl. CP (Crime) Vasant Paradeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, led by PI Anil Takasande and Kamlakar Gaddime along with their team.
