Nagpur: The Crime Branch Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad of Nagpur Police busted an open-air gambling den in the Koradi area and booked seven persons for engaging in illegal betting. The team also seized cash, mobile phones, motorcycles, and gambling materials worth ₹5.10 lakh during the raid.
Acting on a tip-off, the team received information that a group of men was playing cards for money behind Taiwade College, Canal Road, within Koradi police station limits, between 3 am and 5 am on October 11, 2025. The squad conducted a surprise raid in the presence of panch witnesses and caught the accused red-handed.
Those arrested have been identified as Ashish Khadse (32) of Koradi, Devendra Navdinge (36) of Suradevi, Swapnil Khobragade (36) of Khaparkheda, Rahul Bandhe (29) of Khaparkheda, Ishwar Zodape (42) of Nanda, Rahul Jane (35) of Khaparkheda, and Akash Bagde (33) of Khaparkheda. Police recovered ₹26,940 in cash, 8 mobile phones, 6 two-wheelers, batteries, and playing cards, all valued at ₹5,10,480.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that the gambling operation was being run by absconding suspects Salauddin, Gaurav Zele, and Mani, who are currently wanted by police.
A case has been registered under Section 12(A) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act at Koradi Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Addl. CP (Crime) Vasant Paradeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil, led by API Sudhir Borkute and his team.
