Nagpur: Pratapnagar Police have booked the driver of a 10-wheeler tipper truck for causing the death of a 48-year-old scooter rider in a hit-and-run incident.

The accident occurred around 3:19 pm on August 8, 2025, when the victim, Kapil Manmohan Jain, was riding his Activa (MH 31 EJ 9033) along Subhash Nagar T-point, Hingna Road. A tipper truck (MH 49 BZ 1721) allegedly being driven at high speed, rashly and negligently, hit his two-wheeler, causing severe injuries. The driver fled the scene.

The injured was rushed to Medical Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Based on a complaint by the victim’s brother, Sumit Manmohan Jain, police registered a case against the tipper driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, read with Sections 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Investigation is underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
