Nagpur: Kapilnagar Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for carrying a deadly weapon in violation of prohibitory orders. The arrest took place around 11 pm on August 8, 2025, when a police patrol team was conducting a combing operation in the area.
Police received a tip-off that a man was brandishing a weapon near the BSNL office. Upon reaching the spot, the suspect attempted to flee after throwing the weapon to the ground. He was apprehended and identified as Ashpak Ahmed, son of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Parvez Nagar, Yashodharanagar, Nagpur.
A sharp iron sickle worth approximately ₹300 was seized from the accused. Police said he was carrying the weapon with the intention of committing a cognisable offence, thereby violating prohibitory orders.
A case has been registered under Section 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act, read with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, at Kapilnagar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
