Nagpur: Kalamna Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for illegal possession of cannabis weighing nearly 2 kilograms, intended for sale.

Based on specific intelligence, a police team conducted a raid at Plot No. 82, Om Nagar, near Aata Chakki in Kalamna on July 28 between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM. During a house search conducted in the presence of witnesses, the team recovered 1.94 kg of ganja hidden in a bag beneath a cupboard. A weighing scale was also seized from the premises.

The accused, identified as Naresh alias Pappu Jagdishprasad Shrivastava (55), was allegedly stocking the contraband for commercial sale. Police confiscated cannabis and weighing equipment worth approximately ₹51,000.

Following the seizure, a case under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B) of the NDPS Act was registered at Kalamna Police Station, and the accused was taken into custody. Further probe is ongoing.
