Nagpur: Pratapnagar Police have registered a case against two former employees of Hotel Radisson Blu in Nagpur for allegedly cheating the hotel of nearly ₹5.5 lakh by diverting customer payments into personal accounts. The incident reportedly occurred over a span of seven months, from August 23, 2023, to March 18, 2024.

As per the complaint filed by Manoj Shriramprasad Bali (66), the General Manager of the hotel and a resident of Somalwada, the accused — Shubham Laxman Gera (27), who worked as a front office executive, and Ayush Dulichand Tembhare (25), who was employed as a room service attendant — misused their positions and conspired to defraud the hotel.

According to the investigation, Ayush would collect payments from hotel guests based on the standard room tariffs but instead of depositing the money into the official hotel account, he transferred it to his own account. Shubham, who had access to billing and discount systems, allegedly applied discounts and used Ayush’s debit card to complete the payment transactions. The discounted amounts were then misappropriated by both the accused for personal benefit.

The hotel management discovered the financial irregularities during an internal audit, following which a formal complaint was lodged. A case has now been registered at Pratapnagar Police Station under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. PSI Gundre is currently investigating the matter.

Police said further investigation is ongoing to verify whether more staff were involved or if the fraud amount is larger than initially estimated.
