Nagpur: Panic gripped passengers on IndiGo’s Nagpur–Kolkata flight 6E812 on Tuesday after the aircraft reportedly suffered a suspected bird strike shortly after take-off. The Airbus, carrying 272 passengers, was forced to return and make an emergency landing at Nagpur Airport.

Senior Airport Director Abid Ruhi confirmed the incident and stated that a detailed analysis is underway. “Officials are closely examining the situation, and further details will be shared after a thorough assessment,” he said.

According to sources, several prominent personalities, including Sudhakar Kohle, Shekhar Bhoyar, and Nitin Kumbhalkar, were among the passengers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all travelers were safely deboarded after the flight’s precautionary landing.

Airport authorities have initiated an investigation into the suspected bird hit. Meanwhile, IndiGo engineers are conducting a detailed inspection of the aircraft to assess the extent of any damage before it can be cleared for further operations.

Bird strikes remain a significant aviation hazard, particularly around airports with surrounding open fields and water bodies that attract birds. Authorities often undertake preventive measures, including regular patrolling and use of deterrents, to minimize such risks.

The incident caused temporary disruption at Nagpur Airport but was managed swiftly by the ground and technical teams.
