Nagpur: New system to bring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in ticket checking operations Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has taken a significant step towards modernization and transparency by implementing the Biometric Sign ON/OFF System for Ticket Checking Staff (TTEs).
This initiative has been launched under the Railway Board’s policy “Proliferation of Computerized TTE Lobbies”, with the aim of streamlining the duty authentication process and ensuring greater accountability in ticket checking operations.
With the introduction of this system, the commencement and completion of duty by TTEs will now be authenticated only through biometric verification. This ensures that staff are physically present at their designated source and destination stations while also making the entire process more transparent and reliable.
The facility has already been made operational at two major depots in the division. At Nagpur Depot, 6 biometric machines have been installed, while at Ballarshah Depot, 4 machines have been commissioned. All Ticket Checking Staff at these depots are now exclusively using the biometric system in TTE lobbies for signing ON and OFF duty.
Nagpur Division has further planned to extend this facility to all other depots across the division in the near future. Once fully implemented, every TTE under the division will be required to perform duty sign ON/OFF only through biometric systems. Railway officials have expressed confidence that this initiative will not only strengthen transparency but also enhance accountability and efficiency in ticket checking services.
This forward-looking step highlights Nagpur Division’s commitment to adopting digital solutions for better workforce management, while ensuring improved services for passengers and reinforcing trust in railway operations.
