Crime Branch Unit 4 Solves Chain Snatching Case, Accused Nabbed with Stolen Gold in Nagpur

Nagpur: Crime Branch Unit 4 of Nagpur Police cracked a chain-snatching case involving a 73-year-old woman and arrested the accused within weeks of the incident.


On July 21, 2025, complainant Nalini Brahmanand Khaire (73) was walking home after buying groceries near Suyog Nagar when an unidentified biker snatched her 20-gram gold chain worth ₹80,000 and fled. A case was registered at Ajni Police Station under Section 304(2) IPC.


During investigation, Crime Branch Unit 4 received a tip-off and detained Shravan Jay Nade (24), a resident of Rahate Nagar, Nagpur, currently staying in Anand Parbat, Delhi. On interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime.


Police recovered the stolen gold chain and the motorcycle used in the offence, with a total seizure valued at ₹2.4 lakh.


The operation was conducted under the guidance of CP Ravindrakumar Singal, JCP Navinchandra Reddy, Addl CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil by the officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit 4.
