Nagpur: Wathoda Police have registered a case against a 42-year-old man for allegedly harassing his wife to the point of suicide.

According to police, the victim, 32-year-old Sangeeta Shamrao Bisen, married the accused, Shamrao Shripad Bisen, in April 2014. From April 2016, the accused allegedly subjected her to mental and physical harassment over household matters and demands for money from her parental home.

On July 24, 2025, around 4 pm, Sangeeta reportedly hanged herself at her residence in Chhoti Tarodi, Nagpur. Initially recorded as an accidental death, subsequent investigation and a complaint from her brother, Ankit Keshav Khaushi of Chhindwara (MP), led police to conclude that the accused had abetted her suicide through prolonged harassment.

Wathoda Police have booked the accused under Section 108 and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is in progress.
