Truck Driver Booked for Seriously Injuring Woman in MIDC Hit-and-Run

Nagpur: MIDC Police have registered a case against a truck driver for allegedly causing a serious road accident and fleeing the spot after hitting a two-wheeler on Sangam Road in Nagpur.


According to police, the incident took place around 6.45 pm on June 26 when a 57-year-old resident of Sarojini Layout, Rajiv Nagar, Hingna Road, was travelling on his Activa scooter (MH-21-FN-725) along with his 50-year-old wife. As they were passing in front of Gajbhiye Traders on Sangam Road in the MIDC police station limits, a truck (MH-40-BG-9836) allegedly being driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner rammed into their scooter.


The impact threw the couple onto the road. The husband sustained minor injuries, while his wife suffered serious injuries. Both were admitted to Jeevandhara Hospital for treatment.


Based on the complaint lodged by the injured man, MIDC Police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
