Nagpur: A youth was allegedly hacked to death by a group of armed assailants near Futala Lake on Monday evening, triggering fears of a fresh gang war in Nagpur.
The deceased has been identified as Aman Sheikh, who was reportedly the nephew of notorious gangster Shekhu. According to police, the main accused are Yogendra alias Lala Pandey and Jangli Pandey, along with six other associates.
Police said the incident began with an altercation near a shop in the Futala area around 6 pm. Aman allegedly got into an argument with Lala Pandey and reportedly slapped him during the confrontation. Lala then allegedly left the spot after issuing threats.
A few minutes later, Lala reportedly returned with his brother and several associates. The group allegedly surrounded Aman and attacked him with knives and swords. Aman attempted to flee, but the assailants chased him and allegedly killed him.
Gittikhadan Police have registered a murder case and detained three suspects. The killing has heightened tensions in the area, with police keeping a close watch amid fears that the incident could trigger a fresh gang war in the city.
