Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes Over 50 Kg Ganja Worth ₹27.79 Lakh on Bhandara-Nagpur Highway, Truck Driver Arrested

Nagpur: The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Nagpur Crime Branch seized 50.560 kg of cannabis (ganja) worth approximately ₹27.79 lakh and arrested a 40-year-old truck driver during a major operation under the Pardi police station limits on Tuesday.


According to police, the action was carried out on June 30, 2026, between 2:40 pm and 7:10 pm near the Forest Produce Check Post in front of Umiya Complex on the Bhandara-Nagpur National Highway. The operation was conducted by the NDPS Squad while patrolling the area.


Police noticed suspicious movements of the driver of a six-wheeler Ashok Leyland truck and intercepted the vehicle. Following all legal procedures prescribed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and in the presence of two independent witnesses, the vehicle was searched.


During the search, officers recovered 50 kg and 560 grams of ganja concealed inside the truck’s cabin. The contraband, the truck, and an Oppo mobile phone were seized, taking the total value of the confiscated property to around ₹27.79 lakh.


The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Alauddin Mohammad Jamaluddin Sharafat Ali Malik (40), a resident of Mada Quarters under Kapil Nagar police station in Nagpur. Police are also searching for an unidentified suspect from Sambalpur, Odisha, who is wanted in connection with the case.


A case has been registered at Pardi Police Station under Sections 8(C), 20(B), and 2(C) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
