Nagpur: In a major anti-drug operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Nagpur Crime Branch apprehended three individuals in possession of 52 grams of MD powder valued at approximately ₹2.6 lakh here, on Monday, May 19. The operation was conducted between 9:30 am and 11:10 am near Malka Colony, Samta Nagar, under Kapil Nagar Police Station limits.
Acting on reliable intelligence, a trap was laid by the police team, and the suspects were detained. They were identified as Ankit alias Kalya Manoj Ambade (26), resident of Malka Colony, Samta Nagar, Kashyap Arvind Patil (19), resident near Shahu Atta Chakki, Kapil Nagar and Asif Malik alias Kamran (23), resident of Vandevi Chowk, Pravesh Nagar, Yashodharanagar.
A search of the accused led to the recovery of 52 grams of MD powder, a mobile phone, and ₹11,000 in cash. The total seizure is valued at ₹2.81 lakh. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the drugs with help from an accomplice, Kunal alias Jumbo Kundan Dongre(26), a resident of 10 No. Pulia, Motha Indora.
The accused were allegedly intending to sell the drugs for personal financial gain. A case has been registered under Sections 8(C), 22(C), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Kapil Nagar Police Station. All three have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the absconding co-accused.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and senior officials including Additional CP Sanjay Patil, DCP Rahul Mankikar, and ACP Abhijeet Patil. The team was led by PI Gajanan Gulhane and included PSI Sandeep Jadhav and police personnel Manoj Nevare, Vijay Yadav, Arvind Gedekar, Vivek Adhao, Rohit Kale, Rahul Patil, Aman Raut, and Anup Yadav.
