Pachpaoli Police Seize Illegal Cattle Transport Truck, Accused Flees in Nagpur

Nagpur: Pachpaoli police have registered a case against an unidentified suspect for illegally transporting cattle for slaughter in an inhumane manner in Lashkaribagh area here, on Sunday.


According to police sources, On Sunday, March 23, at around 12:30 PM, a police patrol team spotted a suspicious Ashok Leyland transport truck (MH 27 BX 8506) near the Moti Bagh railway crossing in Lashkaribagh. Upon noticing the police, the truck driver attempted to flee. However, as officers pursued him, he abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot.


During an inspection, authorities discovered three live cattle cruelly tied and confined inside the truck, intended for illegal slaughter. The police immediately seized the vehicle and rescued the animals, transferring them to a local cowshed. The estimated value of the confiscated truck and cattle is ₹4.6 lakh.


Based on a complaint filed by police constable Anand Singh, a case has been registered at Pachpaoli police station under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 (amended in 1995) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Further investigation is underway.
