Nagpur: In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about women’s safety, two unidentified men allegedly barged into a government-run OBC girls’ hostel in MIDC and molested a student by forcibly entering her room during the early hours of July 22. The incident occurred around 3 am and has left residents of the hostel and the city stunned.

According to police reports, the accused broke the latch of the room door and sexually harassed the girl. They then stole her mobile phone before fleeing the premises. The horrifying breach has exposed serious lapses in security, as the hostel reportedly lacks CCTV surveillance and adequate guards.

The MIDC Police Station has registered a case under relevant sections, and an investigation is currently underway. So far, no arrests have been made. Authorities are trying to identify the accused and track their whereabouts.

The government hostel, which houses 64 female students, is now gripped by fear and anxiety following the incident. Students have demanded stricter security arrangements, including the immediate installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of security personnel.

Rising Safety Concerns in Nagpur’s Hostels:

The incident has once again brought to light the vulnerable condition of hostels and the lack of basic security measures in state-run facilities. Questions are being raised about how intruders managed to breach the premises undetected and why no preventive systems were in place.

Police have assured that the investigation is being conducted on priority and that measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the hostel’s residents. However, the delay in identifying the culprits and the absence of surveillance continue to be a major concern.
