Nagpur: A 48-year-old man died of electrocution while fishing using a live electric current in a nala (drain) near the Rocket Agarbatti Company in Nagalwadi, Wadi, early morning on Wednesday July 23.
The deceased has been identified as Santram Ramlalla Thakur, a resident of Chinchala Govindpur in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, and currently living in Nagpur.
According to eyewitnesses, Thakur was using a wooden fishing rod charged with electricity to catch fish when he accidentally got electrocuted and fell unconscious in the water.
Local residents pulled him out and informed the police. Wadi Police rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Based on a statement by Suhas Deorao Godbole (40), a resident of Nagalwadi, Wadi Police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is in progress.
