Police in Delhi have foiled an alleged plot to kill a doctor after two suspected shooters linked to gangster Himanshu Bhau’s network were injured and arrested following an encounter in the Bakkarwala area.
According to officials, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police and the Haryana Police Special Task Force received a tip off that a targeted killing was being planned in the area. The alleged target was Dr. Narendra Sharma, owner of RRM Hospital, who had reportedly been threatened earlier by Himanshu Bhau, with the gang leader said to have warned that shooters could be sent to the area.
Acting on the information, police intercepted a suspicious Mahindra Thar in Bakkarwala. When officers signalled the vehicle to stop, the occupants allegedly tried to flee. During the escape attempt, the SUV reportedly collided head on with a Bolero pickup truck at a T-point near a flyover.
Police said the two men then abandoned the vehicle and opened fire at the police team. Around eight rounds were exchanged before officers fired back in self defence. Both suspects were injured in the firing and were later taken into custody and sent to a hospital for treatment.
Two Glock pistols were recovered from the accused, police said. The injured men were identified as Sameer, 19, from Rithal Phogat in Rohtak, and Kush, a resident of Ghubana and currently living in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak.
Investigators are now trying to trace the source of the weapons and identify other members of the alleged gang involved in the operation.
Police also suspect that the group may be connected to earlier criminal activity, including the 2025 shooting outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurugram.
The investigation is continuing, and officials say more details will emerge as they question the suspects and follow the gang’s trail.
