Jaipur, Rajasthan: A team of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders was allegedly attacked and chased out of a village in Jaipur district on Friday while they were visiting a government primary school in the Bagru Assembly constituency.
The group, led by CJP co-founder Ashutosh Ranka, was visiting Rampura Kanwarpura village when a crowd gathered and confronted the team. Videos from the spot showed people shouting slogans, abusing the visitors and pushing them back as the situation quickly turned tense.
According to the footage and accounts shared by the party, some members of the crowd accused the CJP leaders of being “urban naxals,” “anti-nationals” and even “Pakistanis.” The party said its workers were then assaulted and forced to leave the village without completing the school inspection.
Ranka later alleged that the team had come at the invitation of villagers, who wanted the school’s condition to be checked. He claimed the school had been functioning from a cowshed for years and said the party had also visited the same site last year.
Ranka accused BJP workers of being behind the attack and said police had been informed in advance about the visit. He alleged that the team’s vehicles were damaged, phones were broken, a woman member of the group was assaulted, his shirt was torn and one of the team members suffered a fractured hand.
He also urged the media not to blame the villagers, claiming that people had been brought in from outside to provoke violence. He further alleged that a local BJP councillor was seen distributing money to some of the attackers.
The incident triggered political tension in Rajasthan and led to an uproar in the state Assembly, with the BJP and Congress exchanging sharp charges over the matter.
Police have not yet publicly confirmed the full sequence of events, and the claims made by the CJP have not been independently verified.
