Nagpur: Acting swiftly on a theft complaint, Sitabuldi police arrested an accused for stealing an autorickshaw and recovered the stolen vehicle worth ₹1.23 lakh.
According to police, between 9 pm on August 6 and 7:30 am on August 7, 2025, complainant Manharan Hazari Patel (56), a resident of Galli No. 4, Vasantrao Naik Slum, Sitabuldi, had parked and locked his autorickshaw (MH 31 EP 0124) in front of his house. During this period, an unidentified thief stole the vehicle.
Based on Patel’s complaint, Sitabuldi Police registered an offence under Section 379 of the IPC against an unidentified accused. During investigation, the police team, using technical analysis and reliable inputs, detained the suspect identified as Gangaprasad Raju Verma (39), a resident of Galli No. 1, Vasantrao Naik Slum, Nagpur. Upon interrogation, Verma confessed to the theft. The stolen autorickshaw worth ₹1.23 lakh was seized from his possession.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP (Zone 2) Nityanand Jha and ACP (Sitabuldi Division) Sudhir Nandanwar by Senior PI Vitthalsing Rajput, PSI Shyam Warange along with Mosami Katre, Nandkishor Walde, Mohan Kanojiya, Shatrughna Mundhe, Prashant Bhoyar, and Chetan Shende.
