Nagpur: A 35-year-old man with a criminal record brutally stabbed his girlfriend’s father after she refused to marry him. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Jattarodi, Nagpur.

The deceased, Naresh Wagade (55), a resident of Indiranagar, Jattarodi, was allegedly murdered by Nilesh alias Nana Meshram (35), from Rambagh. Police have also apprehended his accomplice, Ishwar alias Jackie Somkuwar.

According to police, Nilesh and the girl were in a relationship since 2016. However, in 2019, Nilesh was jailed for murder, and during this time, the girl moved on. After his release in 2021, Nilesh pressured her to resume their relationship, but she refused. He then assaulted her, leading to his arrest again.

Recently, Nilesh insisted on marriage, but the girl repeatedly refused, citing her father’s disapproval. Enraged, he and his friend ambushed Wagade near Jattarodi Police Outpost on Wednesday at 2 PM and stabbed him to death.

The Imamwada police have arrested both accused, and further investigation is underway.
