Nagpur: The Social Security Branch (SSB) of Nagpur Crime Branch busted a sex racket operating out of a residential apartment in Wathoda on Wednesday, May 14. One woman was apprehended while her accomplice remains absconding.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by PI Omprakash Sontakke conducted a raid between 4:12 pm and 11:45 pm at a flat on the third floor of Murli Madhav Apartment No. 1, located in Sai Baba Nagar on Kharbi Road, under the jurisdiction of Wathoda Police Station.
The prime accused, identified as Nutan Sachin Kalsarpe (32), was caught red-handed along with two victimized women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. Her husband, Sachin Manohar Kalsarpe, is currently on the run.
According to the Crime Branch, the accused lured the women with financial promises and used the flat to facilitate commercial sexual exploitation for personal profit. The raid led to the seizure of Rs 3,000 in cash, a mobile phone worth Rs 25,000, and a condom—amounting to total recovered material worth Rs 28,020.
A case has been registered under Sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, along with Section 143 of the BNS. The accused and the rescued women were subjected to medical examination and handed over to Wathoda Police for further legal proceedings.
The operation was executed by HC Laxman, Prakash, Ajay, Sachin, WHC Lata, Arati, and PC Sameer and Kunal, under the supervision of PI Omprakash Sonttake. Further investigation is underway.
