Nagpur: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Unit 4 team of the Nagpur Crime Branch apprehended two individuals and seized 456 grams of MD (Mephedrone) drug valued at Rs 45.6 lakh during a late-night raid in Hudkeshwar on Wednesday, May 14. One of the accused is already wanted in a previous NDPS case registered at Kotwali Police Station.
The operation was conducted between 7:40 pm and 10:15 pm at Flat No. 202, Anand Sai Residency, Khobragade Layout, Sarvashri Nagar, under Hudkeshwar Police Station limits. The action was taken based on a tip-off received by the crime branch team.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dheeraj Shyam Malik (31), a resident of Gangabai Ghat, Sleeper Colony, near Ashok Bouddh Vihar, under Lakadganj Police Station and Shubham Parsaram Pendor (28), resident of Gangabai Ghat, Shivajinagar, near Agni Mata Mandir, First Lane, under Kotwali Police Station. One more accused, Arpit Uke of Rani Durgavati Chowk, is absconding.
During the raid, officials recovered 456 grams of MD drug along with other incriminating materials:
- Cash amounting to Rs 10,800
- Digital weighing scale worth Rs 500
- Two mobile phones valued at Rs 20,000
- Zip-lock pouches worth Rs 25
- A steel spoon
- Tata Nexon car worth Rs 8 lakh
- Honda Activa moped worth Rs 50,000
The total value of the seized material stands at approximately Rs 54.41 lakh.
The raid was carried out in strict compliance with the NDPS Act, in the presence of two panch witnesses. A thorough search of the premises and the accused led to the recovery of the drugs and other evidence. The accused were subjected to medical examination before being handed over to Hudkeshwar Police Station for further investigation.
Notably, Dheeraj Shyam Malik is also a wanted accused in Crime No. 424/2024 under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act, previously registered at Kotwali Police Station.
