Nagpur: In a major relief for passengers, the city will soon have designated pick-up and drop-off points for private buses within municipal limits. The decision comes a day before the traffic police’s notification restricting bus halts inside Nagpur was to take effect from August 20.
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stepped in on Monday following widespread concerns from passengers and transport operators about the inconvenience the restrictions would cause. His directive ensures that travelers will not be forced to commute long distances outside the city to board or alight from private buses.
The move is expected to ease commuter woes while also helping decongest key city roads. Officials have now been tasked with identifying suitable locations that will balance passenger convenience with efficient traffic management.
For thousands of daily bus travelers, the arrangement is set to provide much-needed respite, making intercity journeys smoother and more accessible.
