Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit-2 has arrested an externed criminal for illegally carrying a knife in the Ambazari area, in violation of prohibitory orders.

On August 18, during patrolling near Valmiki Nagar in front of Dande Hospital, officers noticed a suspicious man. When stopped, he tried to flee but was caught. He was identified as Aman Ramesh Yerpude (29), a resident of Sudam Nagari, Ambazari.

Upon frisking, police recovered a sharp iron knife worth ₹200 from his waistband. Verification revealed that Yerpude had been externed from Nagpur city and rural limits for one year under orders dated October 14, 2024. Despite the ban, he was found moving with a weapon, allegedly with the intent to commit a crime.

Ambazari police have booked him under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act along with relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act. Further investigation is underway.
