Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Squad has arrested an externed criminal in violation of prohibitory orders in Rana Pratap Nagar area.

On August 18, while patrolling in Rana Pratap Nagar, police received a tip-off about a suspect roaming in Subhash Nagar, Kamgar Colony. When approached, the man tried to flee but was caught after a chase. He was identified as Rahul Dhanraj Hatibend (29), a resident of Subhash Nagar, Kamgar Colony.

Police verification revealed that Hatibend had been externed from Nagpur city and rural jurisdiction for two years under orders issued on November 28, 2024. Despite this, he was found moving around suspiciously, allegedly with the intent to commit a crime.

Rana Pratap Nagar police have registered a case under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and the accused has been handed over for further investigation.
