Nagpur: The Pachpaoli police cracked a major vehicle theft case with the arrest of a 21-year-old accused, who has been linked to four separate two-wheeler thefts across the city.
Complainant Rohan Bhojraj Durbude (26), a resident of Balabhau Peth, Pachpaoli, had parked his black Splendor motorcycle (MH 31 BF 8894), worth ₹30,000, outside his home between the night of August 15 and the morning of August 16. The bike was stolen by an unidentified thief, following which Pachpaoli police registered a case.
During investigation, police detained accused Vishant alias Shakti Sanjay Gaikwad (21), a resident of Fakirawadi, Saraswati Nagar, Dhantoli, based on technical inputs and reliable information. During interrogation, he confessed to the Pachpaoli theft as well as three others – one each under Dhantoli, Jaripatka, and Ambazari police station limits.
From his possession, police recovered four stolen two-wheelers collectively worth around ₹2.65 lakh. Further investigation is underway.
