Nagpur: Man Dies After Being Hit by Cement Mixer in Nandanvan, Case Registered Against Tractor Driver

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a 49-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a cement mixer attached to a tractor at Vaishno Devi Chowk under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station on June 10, Tuesday.


According to police, Attarsingh Ramdas Verma, a resident of Plot No. 368, Bhagat Nagar, Bharatwada Road, Kalamna, was about to ride his TVS XL (MH-49-CB-4654) near Nilkamal Cold Drink Shop, Deshpande Layout, around 11:30 am. At the same time, Santosh Mangal Sahu (29), a resident of Garib Nawaz Nagar, Yashodharanagar, was recklessly driving a tractor (MH-49-BZ-0243) with a cement mixer attached.


Due to negligent and dangerous driving, the iron rod of the cement mixer broke off and hit Verma’s vehicle. He fell off and sustained critical injuries. He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared him dead during treatment.


Based on a complaint filed by Verma’s son-in-law, Swapnil Siddharth Khobragade (35), Nandanvan Police registered an FIR against the tractor driver under BNS Sections 281 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery), 106(1) (culpable homicide), and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation is currently ongoing.
