Nagpur: In a significant move towards enhancing safety and operational efficiency, Central Railway's Nagpur Division has successfully installed high-resolution CCTV cameras on Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at 18 major railway stations. This innovative step is aimed at continuous online monitoring of loco, EMU, and MEMU pantographs to promptly detect Over Head Equipment (OHE) defects.
The strategically positioned cameras focus directly on the overhead traction system from the FOBs, enabling real-time identification of any issues in pantographs or related OHE infrastructure. This initiative facilitates proactive detection of defects, minimizes potential service disruptions, and enhances reliability across the division.
Two cameras have been installed on each FOB, resulting in a total of 36 cameras operational at the following stations: Goradongri, Betul, Amla, Multai, Parasia, Pandhurna, Katol, Ajni, Khapri, Nagpur (PF-08 and PF-01), Butibori, Sewagram, Wardha, Dhamangaon, Warora, Chandrapur, and Ballarshah.
The video feed from these cameras is continuously monitored by the Traction Power Control (TPC) team, enabling instant analysis and swift action in case of any detected anomalies.
This initiative underlines Nagpur Division’s commitment to innovation, passenger safety, and modernization of railway operations through technology-driven monitoring systems.
